I know that i haven’t blogged in a long time, but I haven’t forgot about this blog. I have to say i miss bringing new ideas to the craft realm and will continue to do so in the future. I am getting back into posting. Expect some crafts for the holidays or maybe even a tutorial on how to make the much adored Nancy Drew duct tape bag! Keep an eye on my blog!

Nancy Drew Sleuth Kit V2.1 Plaid!

Well the other day I was making another Nancy Drew duct tape sleuth kit. I wanted to make it just like the “New and Improved” kit. Well the store i went to didn’t have any beige or white. I was about to despair, when… PLAID DUCT TAPE came to my rescue. This plaid kinda reminded me of the plaid inside the Nancy Drew movie sleuth kit. Here are the pictures:

Recently, I had a custom order to make a Nancy Drew Duct Tape Sleuth Kit. The buyer wanted it to look similar to the sleuth kit in the Nancy Drew movie. This new bag is different from the original bag I had made. For instance, the straps are made of canvas material, I used Velcro instead of a buckle, and the overall design of the bag is different. Tiny Duct Tape Tote Tutorial

Welcome to the new “TINY DUCT TAPE TOTE “ tutorial!! This tote measuring about 6″ wide, 3 1/4″ long, and 4 3/4″ deep, is great for holding the smaller things of life. This may include anything from make-up to crayons.

To make this tote you will need:

1. two rolls of different color duct tape

2. scissors (not pictured)

3. a cutting board

4. an X-acto knife

5. a ruler

6. patience (very important)(not pictured)

*Warning*

-Children should be supervised by an adult while doing this project due to the x-acto knife and scissors used

-Cutting duct tape with scissors tends to gum up the blades

-Duct tape is sometimes hard to work with and requires some patience until you get the hang of it

Step 1: Make a piece of duct tape fabric 3 1/4 in. x 6 in. with your primary color(I used white). We will call this piece “A.” This will serve as the bottom of your bag.

Step 2: Make two 3 1/4 in. x 4 3/4in. pieces of duct tape fabric with your secondary color( I used tie dye.) We will call these pieces “B” and “C.” These pieces will serve as the sides of the bag.

Pieces "C" and "D" 3 1/4 in. x 4 3/4 in. (sides of the bag)

Step 3: Make two 6″x 4 3/4″ pieces of duct tape fabric with your primary color (I used white.) We will call these pieces “D” and “E.” These pieces will serve as the front and back of the bag.

Step 4: Now you have finished all the duct tape fabric pieces you need to make the bag. This is what you should have so far:

Step 5: Now we will begin assembling the tote. Now take piece “A” and piece “B” and lay them next to each other with “A” to the left and “B” to the right.

Step 5: Now take out your primary roll of duct tape (in my case white) and tape across the edges of the duct tape pieces like so:

Step 6: Cut this piece with your X-acto knife.

Step 7: Now flip these taped pieces over and tape this edge also.

Step 8: Then cut this piece also

Step 9. Bend the two pieces where the edges meet so that it looks like this:

Step 10: Lay your new piece so that piece “A” is on the right. Now, take piece “C” and tape it on the right side of piece “A” so that it looks like this:

Step 11: Now flip the whole piece over and tape where the exposed edges of “A” and “C” meet and cut it.

Step 12: Bend where “A” and “C” meet so that it looks like this:

Step 13: Put piece “D” above piece “A”

Step 14: Tape where piece “D” and piece “A” meet and cut it.

Step 15: Flip the piece over and tape over the edges where “A” and “D” meet and cut it.

Step 16. Bend the duct tape where piece “A” and “D” meet. What you have so far should look like this:

Step 17: Now take Piece “E” ant tape this to the final open side of piece “A” and cut it.

Step 18: Flip the piece over and tape the exposed edges where Piece “E” and piece “A” meet and cut it.

Step 18: Bend the duct tape where piece “E” and piece “A” meet. Your bag should look like this so far:

Sides "A," "B," "C," "D," and "E" taped together

Step 20: Cut a piece of duct tape 4 1/2 in. long (use your primary color).

__________________________________________________________________________

Step 21: Take this piece of duct tape and bend it in half so that the sticky sides are exposed:

Step 22: Place half of the duct tape on side “B”

__________________________________________________________________________

Step 23:Now fold piece “D” onto the sticky side so that the pieces stick together. This picture shows the outside corner of the bag. The piece you just put on should be in the inside corner.

Step 24: Cut another piece of duct tape 4 1/2 in long and tape the outside of the corner of the bag.

Step 25: This is what your bag should look like so far:

Step 26: Tape the rest of the sides up the same way you did this side. Here are the pictures of the rest of the sides being taped up:

Step 27:Cut out a piece of duct tape (use the secondary color) that measures 10 in. Fold it in half to make a smaller strip of duct tape: This will be one of your handles. _________________________________________________________________________

Step28: Cut out a piece of duct tape 6 in long (uses secondary color).

Step 29:Use the 6 in. piece of duct tape to tape the handle onto the bag

Step 30: Do the same with the other handle.

Step 31: Cut out two pieces of duct tape 3 1/4 in. long (use secondary color).

Step 31:Use these pieces to tape the top of the left and right sides of the bag lined up with the front and back strips.

Step 31: You are now done with this duct tape project. Enjoy your labors by showing off your cute new bag to everyone.

Duct Tape Lunch Bag

Welcoming the new addition to the line of duct tape products- the duct tape lunch bag! This lunch bag is is easily cleaned in case of a spill and very unique. (I will put some Velcro on the flap once I get some.)

Well why buy this unique lunchbox from someone else, when you yourself want to be creative and try to make one. Well here is a tutorial i made to help you. If you have any questions about the steps please leave a comment. Don’t get frustrated if your having a hard time. Duct tape is very tricky to manipulate, and it just takes practice.

**Warning**

-Children should be supervise while making this project due to the scissors and/or x-acto knife involved.

-Scissors will get sticky blades from cutting the duct tape.

You will need:

-Two rolls of any color of duct tape

-Scissors (they’ll get sticky from the duct tape so don’t use an expensive pair)

or an x-acto knife

-Ruler

Step 1: Make a strip of duct tape fabric about 4″x8″. I used the color that will be used most throughout the project(in this case yellow). This piece will be used as the bottom of the bag. We will call this piece piece “A.”

: Piece “A” (4″x 8″) (bottom of the bag)

Step 2: Make two strips of duct tape fabric about 4″x 7 1/2.” Again i used yellow for these pieces. These pieces will be the sides of the bag. We will call these pieces “B” & “C.”

: Pieces “B” & “C” (4″ x 7 1/2″) (sides of the bag)

Step 3:Make another piece of duct tape fabric 8″x 7 1/2″. I made this piece yellow also. This piece will be the front of the bag. We will call this piece “D.”

: Piece “D” (8″x 7 1/2″) (front of the bag)

These are what the following pieces you have made so far should look like:

: Pieces “A”, “B”, “C”, and “D”

Step 4: Make a piece of duct tape fabric 15 1/2″ x 8″. I made this piece out of my secondary color (in this case purple). This piece will be the back of the bag that comes over as the flap. We will call this piece “E.”

: Piece “E” (15 1/2″ x 8″) (back of the bag which comes over as the flap)

Step 5: Tape strips “B” and “C” to the small sides of strip “A.”

: Piece “B” and “C” taped to the small sided of piece “A”

Step 6: Tape side “D” to the top of strip “A” so it looks like this:

Step 7: Then tape strip “E” to the bottom of strip “A” the same way you did with strip “D” in step 6. (sorry i forgot to take a picture of this step.

Step 8: Begin to tape the sides of the bag together by taping side “C” to side “E”. Put tape on the inside and outside of the bag. I find it easier to tape the outside of the sides first then the inside. This is a picture with the first side taped up:

Step 9: Next tape side “B” to side “E.”

Step 10: Tape sides “D” to sides “B” and “C.”

Step 11: Cut a piece of duct tape about 8 ” long. Fold it in half. This will be your handle.

Step 12: Tape the piece of duct tape to the top of the bag.

Step 13: Next trim the flap so that it comes almost to the bottom of the bag.

Step 14: Round the edges of the flap. I use a roll of duct tape and trace it with a pen or pencil. You can also use a compass.

Step 14: Now that you have created the bag you may put a buckle or Velcro on the underside of the flap to secure it.

Step 15: Decorate you new lunch bag and enjoy!

I have noticed that many people that have been searching for duct tape bracelets wind up at my blog. Sadly, up until now I have have had not post regarding them. I saw some duct tape bracelets on another site and decided to make them. This is my attempt…

Duct Tape Bracelet

How to make them:

Step 1: Cut 3 strips of duct tape a little longer than your wrist

Step 2: Fold each of the strips in half so that no stickiness is exposed

Step 3: Get a clipboard or a friend to hold the three ends together

Step 4: Start to braid the strands together until you reach the end of the strands

Step 5:Once you reach the end of the strands tape the ends together with an inch and a half long strip of duct tape

I hope everyone enjoys these bracelets! If anyone has any other ideas about duct tape bracelets and would like to see them posted on this site please comment I’m open to new (and old) ideas

Nancy Drew Duct Tape Sleuth Kit

Ever since seeing the movie, “Nancy Drew” my little sister has wanted a sleuth kit just like Nancy Drew. Well, nowhere could we find a bag that fit the criteria. So just recently while making my other duct tape purse i got to thinking “I could make my sister’s sleuth kit out of duct tape.” This waterproof bag, complete with a buckle, will make the day of any “sleuth in training.”
