Bring the Beach Home!

School will be staring soon, and everyone is coming home from vacation. But who really wants to leave the cool waves and the warm sand between their toes?

Well, I made a few crafts this summer that will help you with vacation withdraws, and at the same time give you some ideas for relaxing  beach decor for your home.

My first project was a seashell picture frame.(I actually made about five frames total!) These help you make use of those cute family vacation pictures and the seashells that you found on the beach(if you love beach combing such as myself).

The second project was a starfish banner. This banner is great for completing the “beach” look, and goes perfectly with the shell frames!

Keep reading if you would like step-by-step instructions on how to do each of these projects!

Project 1: Seashell Picture Frames

What you will need:

-a wooden picture frame(I got mine at a craft store)

-sand colored spray paint( I chose a speckled paint so that it looks like sand)

-a hot glue gun

Step 1: Lay the seashells out on the picture frame

Step 2: Glue on the seashells

Step 3: Spray the shells and the frame with the paint, but don’t spray too thick because you still want the seashell ridges to show through

Step 4: Let dry for 24 hours

Step 5: Admire!

Project 2: Starfish Banner

What you will need:

-starfish from a souvenir shop

-a hot glue gun

Step 1: Tie a knot with the hemp around a point of a starfish(if you have trouble tying a knot, you could also just secure the hemp to the back of the starfish with glue)

Step 2: Secure the knot with glue

Continue steps 1 and 2 until the banner is as long as you want.

Step 3: Hang the banner near your seashell frames, or anywhere you wish!

Well, I hope that you found this helpful, and will help you create even more awesome crafts!

And remember to check out the sleuth kits for sale! There are only four left! Take a look here.

Have a great rest of the summer!

P.S. Please comment if you make  these crafts!
