It is finally July 1st, the day everyone (or maybe only a few) has been waiting for— the famous Nancy Drew inspired duct tape sleuth kits are for sale! For a long time I have been telling you guys about the mini sleuth kits, which will also be for sale starting today. Let’s take a quick look about each bag before we get started.
The original sleuth kit was made to prepare a detective for anything. Therefore, it comes with the essentials: a magnifying glass, a penlight, a pen, a pencil, and a notepad (for writing down useful clues).Of course, there is also a large pocket to hold other gadgets or possible evidence. This bag is 9” tall, and 9 ¼” wide.
The mini sleuth kit was made for younger detectives (or just detectives who like to carry a lighter load), and equips them with the right gear to start their adventures: a magnifying glass, a notepad, a pencil, and a penlight. Similarly to the larger kit, the mini kits also have a large pocket to hold other sleuthing materials. The mini kit was made to be lighter than the original kits, so it is half the size. The mini kit is 7 ¾” tall, and 5 ½” wide.

Every detective needs a trusted friend, so I have also made sleuth bags for 18” dolls. These bags will come for free with each original bag, and will also be sold individually. So, if you would like, you can buy a sleuth kit with a matching bag for your doll!

The kits are a great Christmas present to any Nancy Drew fan, but I normally don’t sell the bags during Christmastime, so now would be the time to think about buying them for a very thoughtful gift. I will also offer a few packages, to give a detective just the right supplies for a mystery. Some may include a bag and a matching wallet, or maybe even a original bag with the mini, the choice will be yours! I will explain the specifics when I release the sale date.

Almost everyone who comes to this blog comes to see something made out of duct tape–mostly to take a look at my well-known Nancy Drew sleuth kit. Well, for about two months I have been working on “the surprise,”and although I am not finished yet I can’t help but tell you what it is….
…This is a picture of an unfinished mini Nancy drew sleuth kit. I decided to try making a mini kit because I have noticed that the originals could be a little too heavy for the younger detectives out there 😉 Preference will definitely make the final decision for the question: “The original bag, or the mini?” To help you out, I’ll give you a little more info (But, of course, you will get even more information when I am completely finished with the mini bag.)
The original bag is still perfect for you if you want all of the card slots, pockets, etc. in the front flap. The mini bag on the other hand, may be too small to fit as many pockets in the front. The mini bag will always have the magnifying glass, though( what is a Nancy Drew bag without the magnifying glass?!). Also, as I said before, the mini bag will be perfect for younger N.D. fans because it is about half the size of the original bag. (When I make the official post for the mini sleuth kit, I will put the exact measurements of both kits so that you can see the size difference, and a picture of them next to each other to show the contrast.)
You may be wondering why I am always mentioning how you can choose which you would like best, and how you can choose your preference…well, coming up this summer our famous Nancy Drew duct tape sleuth kits will be for sale!! Many people have asked to buy the sleuth kits, but I have been so busy I haven’t had time to make any. By this summer, though, I will have some bags made and ready to sell! Both the mini bag and the original will be for sale, so check back soon for more details!

Well the other day I was making another Nancy Drew duct tape sleuth kit. I wanted to make it just like the “New and Improved” kit. Well the store i went to didn’t have any beige or white. I was about to despair, when… PLAID DUCT TAPE came to my rescue. This plaid kinda reminded me of the plaid inside the Nancy Drew movie sleuth kit. Here are the pictures:
Recently, I had a custom order to make a Nancy Drew Duct Tape Sleuth Kit. The buyer wanted it to look similar to the sleuth kit in the Nancy Drew movie. This new bag is different from the original bag I had made. For instance, the straps are made of canvas material, I used Velcro instead of a buckle, and the overall design of the bag is different. Ever since seeing the movie, “Nancy Drew” my little sister has wanted a sleuth kit just like Nancy Drew. Well, nowhere could we find a bag that fit the criteria. So just recently while making my other duct tape purse i got to thinking “I could make my sister’s sleuth kit out of duct tape.” This waterproof bag, complete with a buckle, will make the day of any “sleuth in training.”
